Walking and Hiking....
Morzine and the surrounding valleys offer some breath taking scenery,
lakes, meadows, waterfalls and rivers. We can advise you on the best
places to go for full or half day hikes. There is a large range of maps
and trail guides on sale at the Tourist Information Office. Should you
require them we can also offer a packed lunch for your days hiking.
Road Cycling....
The
local roads provide testing routes for the enthusiast. Time yourself on
the marked climb from Morzine to Avoriaz, length 14.6 km, difference in
altitude 840m, average gradient 6%.
The Tour de France is a regular visitor to the area
and should return next summer.
Golf....
In the Haute Savoie region you can access over seven 18 hole courses.
There are local courses in Les Gets and Avoriaz with others nearby at Chamonix (1hr by car) and Evian (45 mins by car)
Parapente....
A first time tandem flight will cost around 55 €, or for the real
enthusiast why not sign up for the weeks course and pilot yourself!!
River Activities....
The River Dranse is well known for its water activities. The following
can easily be arranged;
- White water rafting with a qualified guide in groups between
4 and 8 - trip level form Childrens discovery to more adventourous
- Hydrospeeding , surf the rapids, float aided swimming, above 14yrs
- Canyoning, explore the river environment, rock pool jumping,
abseiling down waterfalls. Trekking available without harnesses form
10yrs.
- Canoeing and Kayaking, At Lake Montriond you can hire a kayak and
make you own way round 15€ for 1.5 hrs, or you can join an organised
group for a river desent for around 30€.
Climbing....
At Le Biot, climbing available beginners to expert with climbing maps
available at the Tourist Information Office. There is a climbing wall at
the Palais des Sport in Morzine. Courses and lessons available including
childrens with qualified instructors.
Horse Riding....
There are 2 local riding schools, Montriond Le "Ranch de L'Avenir" and
Morzines Parc des Dereches
There is a large range of equestrian activities from initiation,
intermediate, outdoor riding. Enjoy a trek through beautiful mountain
scenery. Costs 15€ 1 hour, 27€ 2 hours, 40€ 3 hours, 65 € all day.
Fishing....
Trout fishing in the river Dranse in Morzine , Lake fishing at Montriond
and Mines D'Or. Fishing permits are available for the day, week, 15 days
or a month.
Swimming....
Morzine has 50 m outdoor olympic size swimming pool open to the public.
There are also lakes at Montriond, Les Gets where you can swim safely.
The swimming pool has sunbathing with parasols and loungers, childrens
play area with waterslide. Open in July and August 8am - 7pm,
weekends from 9am and late opening on Tuesdays.
Other Activities....
hot air ballooning, summer luge on the Pleney, 10 tennis courts open to
the public, football, skate
park, bungy jumping, helicopter rides.
